    1. Alonzo L. Hamby Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the Man of Destiny: FDR and the Making of the American Century book, this is one of the most wanted Alonzo L. Hamby author readers around the world.

    2. I have read several FDR biographies and this one compares favorably with the others. Even though Roosevelt had flaws as the book points out, he was a masterful politician, and I still rate him as the second best of our presidents--only behind Lincoln. His programs were game changers.

    3. A critical examination of the Roosevelt life and presidency. Hamby finds much to criticize in the New Deal and much to praise in FDR's wartime leadership. The author has distilled a massive literature into one volume, probably the best single volume life of FDR.

    4. Outstanding biography by my former college professor. A critical, but fair, overview of the man and his policies. Extremely well written.
