    2. This book is exactly what you would expect it to be, a collection of anecdotes about fatherly advice. Being a fairly quick read, (all told took me about an hour to finish) it is also incredibly easy to relate to. Most of the sayings are unique in some way, though there are the scattered cliche bits of wisdom too ("don't count your chickens before they hatch"). Overall, very little thought needs to be put in as the anecdotes are short and to the point. Upon finishing this title I noticed there wa [...]

    3. I received a copy of "Like My Father Always Said" through First Reads. This delightful book is full of advice, little anecdotes, and many dad jokes from real people about their real fathers and grandfathers. I laughed a lot and teared up a little. This would make a great coffee table book, but it could be enjoyed everywhere.

    4. What a cute, fun book, lots of laughs and some tears! I lost my father when I was young but the memories are very precious. I intend to give this book to my younger sister. She will really enjoy it.I received this book for free from the Good Reads First Read program.Thank you so much and author Erin McHugh.

    5. I received this book through a First Reads giveaway. Very nice little book. It is an attractive volume. Nice thick pages and appealing layout. The wisdom contained inside is both funny and wise. Often very touching. It would Mahe a great Father's Day gift, or a gift for a new dad.

    6. This was a sweet, and funny, and interesting read. The book contains thoughts, advice and instructions from a variety of different dads. I like the diversity and the topics covered in this book.

    7. I won this book threw to read for an honest review. I thought it was really good. Thank you.

    8. Adorable! All the things dads say to their kids - I'm sure we've heard a few of them ourselves! Beautifully crafted book and timeless sayings. Very touching.

    9. I had gotten a perfect, pristine copy of this book but after reading it, I was disappointed. I didn't find any of the anecdotes funny or any of the advice profound. It seemed like a waste of precious bookshelf space. The only two quotes I liked were proverbs which don't really count (because I already have a book of proverbs).
